    Our Story

    How it's going...

    Claire's Craft Lab is my full time job, which fits around my 3 children. I sew whilst they're all at school and attend fairs and markets at weekends, selling my hair accessories. My products may have changed but my passion to create bespoke items that make you feel fabulous wherever you wear them has never changed.

    Today, Claire continues to handcraft each turban in our Cumbria workshop, maintaining the highest standards of quality while expanding our color palette and designs. We also offer free shipping on all orders to make our products more accessible to those who need them
    most.

    Our Story

    How it started...

    Claire's Craft Labs was founded by Claire Oliver, a Lab Technician turned seamstress born out of necessity but discovered a new passion In 2014, my eldest daughter started nursery and nearly every weekend attended a party that needed a present! I started making little bows for the birthday girls, the parents asked for more and things snowballed from there.

    I inherited my grandma's sewing machine, a 1939 66k singer, a beautiful glossy black machine which had sat unloved for several years. Once my son started nursery in 2016 I learnt how to sew on that sewing machine with the aid of You Tube. That changed everything, not only could I offer handmade bows but scrunchies and headbands too.
    2017, I attended my first school fair and Claire's Craft Lab was born and it's changed a lot since then!

    Everyone know what happened in 2020, but with no markets or school fairs I no longer had an income, it was time to launch online! Increasing my product range to adapt to demands and fashion treads while also creating custom items.

    While researching for a new product influenced by a customer request, Claire discovered the remarkable properties of bamboo fabric.
    Inspired by the comfort and sustainability of bamboo, Claire began crafting turbans for friends undergoing chemotherapy. The response was overwhelming - not only were the turbans stylish, but the natural temperature regulation and softness of
    bamboo made them perfect for sensitive scalps and those who had lost hair during cancer treatment.
